The Difference Between A Duck
The fate of the world lies in the hands of a wastrel whose only accomplishment is depositing a stupendous stool on the roof of a police car.
The aliens are here! They're everywhere! Well, they're in Whitehall at the very least and they're infiltrating the corridors of power, the offices of authority and some of the stationery cupboards too. But nobody knows they're there.
Not quite nobody. Enter Martin Stanley - at first glance it would appear that he's fit for nothing more than drinking beer and defecating on police cars. However, he's young and he's got potential, and when he's sent for a special lesson with Frau Löwenbaum, a fearsome disciplinarian tutor, he realises that his life has a higher purpose.
Accompanied by his resourceful girlfriend, Samantha, and equipped with his trusty Stanley Fork and a can of WD-40, Martin's adventures lead him on a bizarre guided walking tour, to the discovery of a cave of abandoned pasts, and the uncovering of the sinister secret of oxbow lakes.
He even finds out why Prince Philip keeps a large stash of gunpowder in the cellars of Buckingham Palace.
Warning
Contains violence, nudity, drug usage, scenes of a sexual nature, sado-masochism, and some naughty words.
Essentially, not one to have lying on your coffee table when the vicar pops round.
Audio
There isn't an audiobook version available yet (I'm hoping to get Stephen Fry to read it) but a soundtrack to the book can be found here:
Genres
File under:
Adventure, science fiction, fantasy, romance, erotica, travel, education, cookery and crime against the literary arts. Oh, and in particular - humour.
My hope is that by spanning as many genres as possible, Waterstones will have to display it in several sections.
